Blooming Hill Plants is a small and very individual nursery. Whilst enjoying all plants, I have over the years refined the stock to reflect my own horticultural passions and specialities. Whilst not particulally rare, many of the plants I stock are not easily found because they may be difficult to produce on a large commercial scale, or because they are just not fashionable any more. I love the challenge of finding just the right plant, or collection of plants, for a supposedly 'difficult' site and will always offer honest and impartial advice.

I offer a good range of reliable herbacious perennials for most soils, including alkaline but not a lot for acid. All varieties are trialed here on my exposed Somerset site to ensure hardiness.
All my stock is grown in peat-free, loam-based compost, outside and not brought on undercover. This ensures a hardy plant and a good start when planted in your garden.

In the late spring and early summer we offer an eclectic selection of veg plants - tomatoes, courgettes, pumpkins, tomatillos, leeks, salad, physalis, brassicas, cucumbers - most of which are not easily obtained even as seed. Last year I offered 42 varieties of tomato for sale, all sizes and all colours - an excellent way of trying out something new.

For scent and colour a fine old-fashioned rose is hard to beat. I offer a personal selection of charming hardy roses, selected to proove that old roses do flower all summer and do not succumb to every disease in the book! They are also ideal for growing in less than perfect soil and shady sites.

AT PRESENT WE ARE UNABLE TO DO MAIL ORDER.
APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THIS MIGHT CAUSE, BUT BEAR IN MIND YOU MAY BE ABLE TO COLLECT FROM A SHOW.

Stop Press!

We are editing/ammending our plant list at the moment. If you see a plant highlighted in yellow, then it probably means we have run out!
Of course it could be that due to the weather last winter we are having to bulk up supplies again. Please be patient; if we list it, then it will be available sometime soon.

The rose list is also being edited and I hope you will bear with me whilst I get my annual act together!

THE ROSES ARE FINALLY HERE!!!!!!!
For all those desparately seeking climbimg Cecile Brunner or the delectable Scarlet Fire, I'm afraid we still have failed to get enough stock, but there are some really nice additions to the list so check it out.

I hate to be the doom and gloom merchant, but as I sit here, editing the lists, in thermal gloves, two woollies and a beany hat, the list may still need to be gone through again when the ice finally melts! Most of my stock is very hardy but some will be tested to the limits so please bear with me 'til I'm satified.
