and Productive Garden

Opening Times
The nursery is open from April to October by appointment because Blooming Hill is not a a garden centre or or officially a retail nursery. We unfortunately have no facilities for people just dropping by, so the mantra is - if I’m in I’m open - hence the need for a phonecall or email.
Having said all that we welcome visitors at our open days, generally in spring for the best selection of veg and bare root roses and my dogs welcome all coming for advice about planting up an area or checking out what is in flower at any particular time of year.
Directions
The nursery is situated at the bottom of Compton Lane in the hamlet of East Compton, 1 mile south of Shepton Mallet.

From the roundabout with the sheep, between Shepton Mallet and Cannards Grave, where the A361 for Frome, the A37 to Bristol and Bath and the A371 to Shepton Mallet meet, take the A371 to Shepton Mallet and turn left just after the roundabout at the brown sign for The Highwayman into Cannards Grave Road.

Follow that road round to the right as it becomes Ridge Lane and after half a mile take the first lefthand turning. This should be sign-posted East Compton, but some bright soul keeps turning it to point back to Cannards Grave! My advice is to take the turning opposite the one signed to Compton Road and you will be fine.
At the bottom of this lane the nursery is in the field to the right. you may park in the right hand bit of the lane, but please do not block the left hand lane or our gate into the back garden. Thankyou.
